McPherson Reflective Condensers and Focusing Systems (see also reflective telescope and collimator accessories)

Reflective Condensing System / Focusing Accessory

Model 617A Reflective Condensing System / Focusing Accessory is useful for coupling broadband light sources to McPherson monochromators. It uses 2 reflective optics to focus a source to the entrance slit, usually 1:1. The reflective system eliminates chromatic aberration, provides maximum spectral range, and does not require refocusing. An aperture is provided to match f/nos. McPherson accessory light chopper and filter wheels fit inside this housing next to the slit. Works with most McPherson sources and fiber accessories.

Model 617B Reflective Condensing System / Focusing Accessory is useful for coupling two or even three (ref. 617C) broadband light sources to McPherson monochromators. It uses reflective optics to focus a source to the entrance slit. The large collection optic swivels through 180 degrees on a bearing to direct light from two sources to the entrance slit. Like the 617A the all reflective system eliminates chromatic aberration, provides maximum spectral range, and does not require refocusing. An aperture is provided to match f/nos. McPherson accessory light chopper and filter wheels fit inside this housing next to the slit.

vacuum compatible reflective condenser accessory
Reflective Condenser ... The vacuum compatible Model 615 reflective condenser is an energy optimizer. Used in the vacuum ultraviolet spectral region, the semi- grazing incidence angle of the mirror promotes good reflective efficiency. It collects and focuses divergent source energy to the spectrometer entrance slit. It typically provides a factor of 3 to 5 gain in collection. This accessory is most popular with our model 632 deuterium lamp and vacuum monochromators like 234/302, 235, 231 and 225. Available for ultra high vacuum.

The vacuum compatible energy optimizer is available in many forms comprised of different focusing optics and different source / vacuum spectrometer distances. The version pictures is configured to work with the 150W water cooled Deuterium lamp and the 200mm Model 234/302 vacuum monochromator. Also pictured, the three point adjustment of the optimizer optic. These adjustments are accessible to the user and may be set while the unit is under vacuum.

Normal Incidence Reflective Condenser
Model 615B, Normal Incidence Reflective Condenser ... Model 615B, Normal Incidence Reflective Condenser ... The Normal Incidence Reflective Condenser Model 615B is another variant of our energy optimizer. In this case the optic, distances and angle of incidence have been changed. This variant promotes better imaging performance from source to slit, especially when toroidal or elliptical focus optics are used. The angle necessitates use at longer wavelengths. The 615B is mostly used with instruments of slower f/numbers. (greater than about f/6.)
