Measuring Optical Properties and Luminescence

McPherson presents systems for optical analysis of Phosphors and LED's -- systems for R&D and process or quality control. McPherson phosphor analysis systems can have excitation from soft x-rays to visible light. Select emission spectrometer resolution; heat and cool your samples. A lifetime signal acquisition suite is available too. All systems have accessory ports for x-ray or pulsed-laser sources.

The new VUVAS PLUS Spectrophotometer system works from 115nm vacuum ultraviolet to 1800nm infrared. The new system measures transmittance and reflectance at adjustable angles. Plus it delivers tunable vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) excitation light to samples with emission measured in the visible and near infrared. A high vacuum environment keeps samples clean and prevents absorption by atmospheric gases and water vapor. A liquid Helium cryostat allows cooling samples during measurements.

McPherson is exhibiting at the Phosphor Global Summit 2014

A user group at Ural Federal University (Photonics & Optoelectronics) led by Prof. A. Zatsepin (and Dr. E. Buntov, Dr. D. Biryukov, Dr. A. Slesarev, Dr. D. Zatsepin) study radiation physics and spectroscopy of disordered and low-sized systems (glasses, single crystals, thin films, quantum dots). Currently the team is working on various host matrices containing nanometer scale particles formed by high-energy pulsed irradiation. They plan to measure optical and luminescence properties of advanced functional materials with the new VUVAS PLUS spectrophotometer. The scientific results obtained constitute a basis for new materials development with various applications for integrated optics, micro-, optoelectronics and photonics.

McPherson (Chelmsford, MA USA) manufactures a variety of instruments that measure and tune wavelengths of light for spectroscopy. The company is proud of its ongoing worldwide role in photonics research. For more information about our instruments and manufacturing capabilities visit or call 1-978-256-4512 today.
